ABOUT ME, MY MISSION, MY VISION
My mission through my treatments is to restore motion to the whole horse. To do this we need to consider all aspects of the horse and it's systems:
1. Skeletal
2. Muscular
3. Nervous
4. Visceral
5. Hormonal

MY VISION
The biggest connection to all these systems is fascia. Through massage and various other techniques I target the fascial system which refers to a body wide connective tissue matrix. This matrix provides structural support to all bodily tissues and organs as well as communicating pathways within and between these structures. Through my work I access the specific needs of your horse to alleviate problem areas, stimulate the lymphatic system, as well as address the five systems to obtain maximum movement, agility and injury prevention.
Born and raised in beautiful British Columbia, Desta had a love for horses at an early age. With her Grandpa being an old cowboy from Alberta, she was lucky enough to be surrounded by them every summer. Horses have impacted her life in so many different ways she knew that she wanted to devote her life to giving back to them. From rehab horses to grand prix show horse and everything in between Desta's main priority is to help heal and give back in any way she can. Every horse has a storey.
EDUCATION
Canadian Equine Institute
2019-2023
Intensive four year program that involves a combination of classroom work, practical hands on components, self study and case studies. With only ten students excepted per year this course gave individualized help and attention to every student to ensure they got the very best environment and learning tools to become successful therapists.

Understanding the anatomy and physiology of the horse is prioritized starting with the individual cells, to the whole make up of the horse. Through yearly dissections students are given an inside look what's going on and and how the body really works, giving valuable insight into seeing through the horse to determine how it is being effected.

With over 6000 hours, I graduated with honours and am certified in the following: Massage, Osteopathy, Nutrition, Manipulations, Cranial Sacral, Diaphragm work, Acupressure/Acupuncture and Kinesiology taping.

Review from Owner and president of The Canadian Equine Institute

"I am thrilled to provide this review for Desta, who has been nothing short of exceptional throughout her time as a graduate student. From the moment she walked into the program, it was clear that she was someone with incredible drive and determination. She is the kind of student who sets a goal and relentlessly pursues it, often making the rest of us wonder if she has a secret energy source that we don't know about. Seriously, I've never seen someone study so consistently-if there were an Olympic event for dedication, Desta would be bringing back the gold.

Her passion for horses is absolutely contagious. Whether it's late nights at the library or early mornings in the field, Desta approaches everything with the same enthusiasm and care she has for her four legged friends. You can tell that her commitment to the field is driven by a deep love for the work, not just academic success. She's someone who doesn't just "get the job done" she does it with heart, passion and a sense of purpose.

If there's one thing I know for sure is that Desta will make an amazing therapist. If I ever find myself in need of one, I would gladly sign up to be her client. Her empathy, insight and dedication to helping others are qualities that will serve her well in this field. If I could clone her and have her as a therapist for myself, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

In short, Desta is a standout student, and anyone who gets to work with her in the future is lucky indeed."
